I’m so impressed that you’re out there on the ice and enjoying yourself—walker and all. That image of Jesus choosing the walker over the 'pro' moves is really beautiful—it’s such a powerful reminder of how He meets us exactly where we are, weaknesses and all. Enjoy the time with your parents!
I love this post — I keep thinking about it. I'm so glad you and your family are enjoying skating, and I love that you are letting go of "being cool," and I completely agree that Jesus would be out there with the walker as well. Brene Brown talks about the difference between "fitting in" (i.e. being cool) and "belonging" — and I think Jesus helps us to find belonging. And so do you, James! Thank you for your writing.
Great question, James. I'm almost done with GK Chesterton's book The Everlasting Man. There's a very impactful part of the book where he talks about how there's so much of Christ's life that we don't hear about...the ordinariness of growing up, being a carpenter, cousin, etc. (Probably not ice skating though...) We're to see that in his role as fully man, part of his ministry was submission to that human experience and all that it contains. We can fill in the blank spaces on great questions like this. Thanks James!

I love this, James! What a great reminder of Jesus’ love for us.
And your picture brought a huge smile to my face.
I also love skating, James! You look like you're having a great time. :)
